A lot of you have been curious as to how I keep my skin on fleek. Well… my answer to that isn’t exactly simple. There’s a lot that goes into maintaining good skin. Given that I live in LA, a city where pollutants and bacteria in the air are inevitable – I have to make sure I’m taking all the steps necessary to take care of my skin. Check out some of the tips and tricks I’ve developed over the years to keep my skin looking and feeling awesome.
You Are What You Eat
I can’t stress this enough! A good diet is seriously the number one tip I have for amazing, breakout free, glowing skin. Maintaining a clean diet is what makes all the difference in the world for good skin. Make sure you’re eating a vitamin-rich diet, full of natural antioxidants and superfoods. Check out my latest post on my go-to “Lit” Smoothie. Having something as simple as a green smoothie everyday will keep your body and skin looking fly.
Vitamins and Supplements are your Friends
Make it a daily habit to take your vitamins. I probably take about seven different vitamins and supplements a day – all of which attribute a different function for my body. Three vitamins that I take on the daily for good skin health are biotin, zinc and omega-3 fatty acids. Incorporating these into my daily routine has drastically changed the health of my skin and keeps breakouts and spots at bay.
If you take anything from these healthy skin hacks, take this one. Drinking water can make or break your skin health. Not only is ample amounts of water essential for proper bodily functioning, but drinking water attributes to how your skin looks on the outside. If I don’t drink enough water throughout the day, my skin begins to breakout and gets dehydrated. Make sure you are drinking at the very least 2 liters of water a day.
Cut out the Dairy
High amounts of dairy in your diet can cause and increase the likelihood of developing numerous skin disorders like eczema, inflammation, skin breakdown, aging and even acne. Try limiting your dairy intake and I guarantee you will see a difference in the way your skin looks. If you are developing skin issues, this might even be the main reason.
Although there are numerous things you can do to improve the health of your skin, these are the changes that have seriously made the biggest impact on my own skin.
Good skin really starts from within. Make sure you are making your health a priority and things like good skin will come easy.
Sending lots of love and blessings your way.
