Skincare Regime (WINTER EDITION)

As the days grow colder, my face gets more and more dry. This is basically the story of my life when it comes to the Fall and Winter months. My skin normally doesn’t react well to this dry, cold weather. Naturally, I have an oily to combination skin type but it gets extremely dry during this time of year. As a result, this is normally the time within the year that I like to amp up my skincare game!

Check out a step by step process of my current day to night skincare routine for these colder days.

s t e p #1 : WAKE UP & CLEANSE

Cleanse, cleanse, cleanse! The very first thing I do when I wake up in the AM is cleanse my face. I like using a super non-harsh and gentle cleanser to clean my face in the morning. Something refreshing, light-weight and gentle are what I opt for.

When I wake up, I really focus on cleansing! The first thing I do when I wake up is use a gentle but quality cleanser. Lately, I’ve been super into the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Boosters Facial Cleanser. This bad boy not only smells amazing but it leaves my skin feeling smooth and refreshed as I am still waking up.

After cleansing, I follow up with a toner. I’ve been using the Olay Oil Minimizing Clean Toner for years and I love it because it has witch hazel – which really helps rid my skin of any impurities and helps with long-term longevity. Not to mention, this toner does an awesome job of removing any excess oils or dirt left after cleansing.

s t e p #2: MOISTURIZE

After cleansing and toning the skin, I go right into moisturizing. I first like to use an eye cream. Currently, I’ve been loving the Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado. I apply this gently under the eyes to hydrate my sometimes tired eyes in the morning.

Next up, I use a few daytime moisturizers for the face. Firstly, I apply Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. This really does the job when my face is feeling dry. I can count on this product to sustain moisture all day long.

I’m a firm believer in applying SPF to my daily skincare regime. Lately, I’ve been using Neutrogena’s Oil-Free Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 35. This is a lightweight formula that does an awesome job at providing additional moisture to my skin while providing that sun protection that I want.

At night, my main focus is taking off my makeup! Although I love having a clean, makeup-free face, this is my least favorite part.

s t e p #1: REMOVE MAKEUP

Removing my makeup is always such a process but the products I use to do so frequently change. Right now, I’ve been super into sticking with simple products. I love using POND’S Cold Cream Cleanser.

In combination with POND’S, I use a makeup wipe to ensure all of the makeup is off. My go-to makeup wipe is Neutrogena’s Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes – Night CalmingI love this product because of it’s incredible smell and it definitely calms my senses when I’m getting ready to head off to bed.

s t e p #2: SCRUB

After a long day of wearing makeup, I normally feel like my face needs a bit of a scrub to remove any excess makeup, dirt or oil that may be lingering. I mentioned this product in a previous skincare post, check it out here: Skincare: ON REPEAT, but my go-to facial scrub is still the SheaMoisture African Black Soap Problem Skin Soap & Scrub. Although I don’t use this product everyday, it’s good to use every few days depending on how sensitive your skin is.

s t e p #3: CLEANSE

If you do anything at all, cleansing your face at night is probably the most important step you can take. My favorite cleanser for nighttime is actually the same one I use during the day, Neutrogena Healthy Skin Boosters Facial Cleanser. I’ve been super impressed with this product because I notice that it always leaves my skin feeling extremely smooth and fully cleansed.

s t e p #4: MOISTURIZE

Moisturizing at night is a must! Allowing your skin to soak up essential moisture will promote effective anti-aging results and allow for your skin cells to rebuild themselves.

I use a few different products to properly hydrate my skin at night. Firstly, I go in with a facial serum. I use the Fig+Yarrow facial serum by applying a few drops to my hands to warm up the product then I gently rub it in upward motions on my face. If you want to learn more about this product I featured it in a previous blog post. Check it out here loves: JANUARY LOVES.

The last step of my nighttime moisturizing routine normally involves some type of anti-aging property. This is a new product that I’ve added to my regime and I can honestly say that I love it is The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream. I wake up and my skin is extremely soft, plump and moisturized.

s t e p #5: LIP CARE

The final part of my nighttime skincare regime is to add a little hydration to my lips at night. On any normal day, I use a matte lipstick so I always have to make sure my lips are hydrated. Lately, I’ve been loving the Smith’s Rosebud Salve. It smells incredible and does the best job at hydrating my lips.

Although this skincare regime is ever-changing – these products have been on a pretty consistent rotation for the past couple months.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Definitely let me know if you’d like to see more skincare posts from me. I try to take exceptional care of my skin because I love having the ability to change up my look from wearing a full face of makeup to mixing it up and not wearing any makeup at all. Be sure to comment below or send me an email if you have any questions or want to learn more about any of the products mentioned.

Thank you for your constant support, it means the world to me.

Sending love & happiness to my love bugs.
