Dreamy Oats

Hello loves!

Yes, this is a post completely dedicated to OATMEAL. Oats, oatmeal, porridge, quick oats – I love it all! Breakfast has always been my favorite meal of the day, so much so that I literally go to bed thinking about what I’m going to whip up in the morning (please tell me I’m not alone in this). Oatmeal is literally my favorite healthy, go-to breakfast item.

Now, let’s be real. . . I don’t just make myself any ordinary oatmeal, in fact, a solid amount of time, thought process and energy goes into my oats. Everyday is a bit different but I try to always incorporate a general basis of ingredients. Below you’ll find everything you need to know to make the not so basic oats of your dreams.

Of course, you gotta begin with a quality type of oatmeal to start. Lately, I’ve been going for maple and brown sugar oatmeal from Quaker. Although Quaker has amazing steel cut oats, old fashioned and quick oats – my absolute favorite is their instant oatmeal.  They have a ton of yummy flavors within their instant oatmeal range. Other than the classic maple and brown sugar, my favorite flavors are apples and cinnamon and cinnamon and spice. Whatever your brand or flavor preference is, make sure it’s one you love. Starting with quality oats is the most important part!

Adding in nutrients like fruit to your oats is an essential and super easy way to create a healthy start to your day. My favorite fruit to add to my oatmeal is banana. If I’m feeling extra wild, I’ll add strawberries, blueberries, raspberries or even blackberries. I’m a major fan of berries so I’m not picky when it comes to choosing what I want. It really just depends on what I have in my fridge that day. Whatever your personal fruit preference is, make sure to include it in your oats. Fruit also adds as an all-natural sweetener to your oats.

On a normal weekday (weekends not included) I wake up and go straight to the gym. After the gym is when I partake in a delicious breakfast. My goal is to always include a good amount of protein into my breakfast especially after a workout. I’m a MAJOR fan of peanut butter and almond butter so naturally, this is my go-to source of protein. Something to always consider when buying any type of nut butter is to be sure the ingredients are wholesome and all-natural. By paying close attention to this, you can avoid all of the unnessesary sodium and sugar additives may nut butter brands put into their products.

My all time favorite peanut butter and almond butter is from a brand called Wild Friends. The reason I’m so OBSESSED with the  Wild Friends brand is not only because their nut butters taste like literal HEAVEN, but this brand is entirely organic, all-natural, non-GMO and gluten free. . . OMG I know! My absolute, tried and true favorite flavor is currently the Wild Friends Cinnamon Raisin Peanut Butter. Try it if you’re ready for your life to be changed!

Honey makes the world go ’round. To top things off, I like to add a tiny drizzle of honey to my oats. This is again, totally based on personal preference. This is the final step towards making your oatmeal pure perfection. Any source of honey or agave or natural sweetener of choice will work. Just be sure that your sweetener is all-natural and certified organic. This way, you can feel good about topping off your oats with a bit of sweet sweet bliss.
I am currently enjoying Trader Joes’ Raw Collected Organic Honey Guys, this stuff is amazing!

Here’s a look inside some of my own oatmeal creations! I’m very much an amateur “plater” or “food photographer” but I wanted to give you all an inside look of this amazing, healthy and nutrient rich breakfast.
