Skincare: On Repeat

Let’s have a little chat about skincare! Since as long as I could remember, skincare has always been a major priority of mine. My skincare routine didn’t actually begin taking a more serious detour until I began wearing makeup. I probably started wearing makeup towards the beginning of high school. I have to say that my mom and sister also largely contributed towards the love and care I take to my face on a daily basis. I grew up seeing them take off their makeup at the end of each day and basically learned their techniques and the products they loved using

Since skincare is and will probably always be extremely important to me, expect to see lots of posts related to skin on here. Although I have a ton of ride or die skincare products that I use within my daily routine, I’m also always trying out an array of new products. I don’t take new products lightly, however, expect to read up on reviews that reflect my honest and sometimes harsh opinions.

Before getting into some new products I want to share with you all, you should probably know what type of skin I have. I would describe my skin as being oily and mostly sensitive. I get few breakouts throughout the month but when I do, I make sure to take care of them right away. I attribute a lot of my good skin not only from good genetics but also from a solid skincare routine. If I could give any advice about maintaining good skin it would be to always be consistent and try using products that are not only made for your skin type but products that are derived and made from naturally occurring ingredients.

Speaking of which, I’ve slowly started to incorporate two new all natural products into my skincare routine that I would love to share with you. I think these products are definitely worth sharing because of how well they’ve been working throughout the past few months. Now keep in mind that I have oily and sensitive skin so these products may not work for every skin type but they are definitely worth a try!

The first product I’d like to share with you is by Shea Moisture. I’ve used Shea Moisture’s Coconut & Hibiscus 2-in-1 Foaming Milk & Body Wash in the past and I absolutely loved it! I definitely had some previous faith in this brand so I was excited to try out their facial products. I was in the market for a good facial scrub and I stumbled upon this one while I was in Target. I’m always a little apprehensive about scrubs because of the fear I have of potentially getting those unwanted breakouts. My criteria for scrubs is as follows: (1) gentle (2) suitable for sensitive skin (3) natural ingredients (4) suitable for breakout prone skin. Shea Moisture’s African Black Soap Problem Skin Facial Wash & Scrub immediately stood out as a contender. I’m so glad I made this purchase because this stuff is awesome! I use it twice or even three times a week and it definitely does the trick. This facial scrub gets all of the unwanted dirt, oils and dead skin off of my face and leaves a smooth, super clean finish. Since I began incorporating this scrub into my skincare I’ve noticed fewer random blemishes, smoother skin and smaller pores. I have ZERO complaints about this product. If you’re in the market for a good facial scrub I would definitely try this one out.

Cleansers are sort of a sensitive subject for me (no pun intended hehe). Let’s just say I’m extremely picky when it comes to choosing the perfect cleanser for my lifestyle and skin type. I have a few ride or die cleansers that I use on rotation depending on my skin and the time of year. While I was scrolling through the amazing skin care aisle at Target I noticed this bad boy amongst all of the other tempting products. What caught my attention was mainly the fact that this cleanser has zero harsh chemicals or parabens and from the Neutrogena Naturals line. This bad boy is called the Purifying Facial Cleanser by Neutrogena and it literally does exactly what it claims to do. When finding a good daily cleanser I try to also look for something that is not only all natural but also something that has salicyclic acid because I know that is what my skin loves and what keeps my breakouts at bay. I use this cleanser in the morning and at night and it leaves my skin dirt/makeup and oil free. Since using it I haven’t had any crazy breakouts and my skin has been loving the ingredients. I would definitely look into this cleanser if you are in the market for a harsh-free, pore-cleansing, all-natural daily cleanser.

You can definitely expect to see a lot more skincare posts from me in the future. I’ll only write about products when I seriously love and trust them. Taking care of my skin is super important to me so I hope you try out these products. Definitely let me know how they work for you and if you have any ride or die skincare products you can’t live without feel free to share in the comments below!

Sending love & happiness to my love bugs.

If you made it this far, THANK YOU.
