Shattered Glass

Before you assume this is an ultra serious blog post, think again! Although I’m your “not-so-average” type of girl, I’m still a girl who enjoys her occasional mani pedi. With that being said, today I stepped outside of my comfort zone and entered into the world of gel nails. Say what!? Yeah, gel nails are sorta kinda life changing. If you know me well, you know I have a slight obsession with acrylic and have for years now. Times have changed! I’ve been on this new quest to grow my nails out and it’s definitely been a challenge. I went for so long with the ever so basic acrylic claws and the ultra long square nails that my poor nail beds suffered. Now. . .finally, my nails have been set free! Since taking this break from my long love affair with acrylics, I’ve discovered an appreciation for my very own natural nails. Thank goodness this realization happened sooner rather than later.

Upon entering the gel nail vortex I knew I needed the best! I decided to Yelp nail salons in my area that specialize in gel nails. I stumbled upon this place called Pastel Nail Lounge. With a 4 out of 5 stars and awesome reviews I decided on this place to take my nail virginity. Now I knew there would be plenty of color options with gels, however, I was completely unaware of the literally ENDLESS options for designs and nail art.

This bad boys are a simple nude color with a touch of their very own “shattered glass” effect. The outcome was so pretty! The nail artist used this super fancy and ultra reflective paper to actually mold and shape these glass-like reflectors onto my nails. It was magical to say the least. Nonetheless, I would definitely recommend this place. Be sure to ask for Lilly – she was super sweet! Yes, changing up my nail game isn’t exactly a big deal but it’s important to embrace change! I’m learning that any type of change whether big or small can create a new outlook and newfound perspective on things. Nails just got deep on ya!
